For the first time, a complicated stent procedure was performed at the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Ongole, which turned out to be a huge success.
Addressing the media, here on Friday, Additional Director Yedukondala Rao explained the coronary angioplasty procedure and credited the successful conduct of surgery to the specialists of the Cardiology Department. “Our GGH has conducted several complicated procedures in the past and we have achieved a new milestone with this stent procedure,“ Dr. Rao said.
Chief cardiologist Venkateswara Rao explained how the patient, Prasad, an autorickshaw driver, had approached the hospital after getting chest pain and how the angiogram performed by them revealed the blocks. The patient thanked the hospital authorities for bringing modern and sophisticated treatment to the reach of a common man.
