The Gujarat police has alleged that the riot that broke out in Gujarat’s Khambat during Ram Navami celebrations on Sunday was completely planned and financed by foreigners.

The Gujarat Police has alleged that the riot that broke out in Gujarat’s Khambat during Ram Navami celebrations on Sunday was completely planned and executed by sleeper cell modules. The police also said the accused were in touch with foreigners who financed their operations. The police said the accused made sure that they attack the Ram Navami Rath Yatra so that no such yatra takes place in the future.

Anand municipality’s Superintendent of Police(SP) Ajit Rajian said, "During the Ram Navami Rath Yatra in Khambat, stone pelting and arson took place. One person died in the incident while several others were injured. We formed a special investigation team to investigate the matter. Our team also includes cyber experts.”\

The investigation revealed that the attack on the Rath Yatra was a pre-planned conspiracy. “The motive behind their actions was to ensure that no such yatra takes place in the future. The main accused, Razzak Hussain Patel Maulvi is from the nearby dargah. Maulvi came to know about the police permission given for the Yatra and started the whole conspiracy," said SP Rajian.

SP Ajit Rajian further said that Maulvi started having secret meetings after learning about the police's permission. He designated work to different people in the way it is done in a sleeper cell module. Some people were given the task of bringing people from different districts, some were tasked with executing the attack, and some people were asked to handle the finances.
