
Colleges, higher education institutions reopen in Kashmir

From February 15, several colleges, and higher education institutions reopened in Kashmir, with necessary Covid-19 protocols.
On February 15, several institutions of higher learning, including colleges, reopened in Kashmir, two days after the administration decided to allow physical classes. Several students from different colleges in the city, and in the other parts of the valley attended offline classes, according to officials.
Staff and students followed the appropriate Covid-19 behavior, including mandatorily wearing masks. Students were only allowed entry after temperature screening.
The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar will resume its physical classes for the students of postgraduate and B Tech 8th semester from February 21.
Recently, the Dean, Najeeb-ud-din, held a meeting under the chairmanship of Director NIT Srinagar and other officials, in which it was decided to resume academic activities of all PG courses and B Tech 8th sem of all branches from Feb 21.
"The decision regarding resumption of academic activities of other semesters will be taken later in view of prevailing Covid situation," the dean said, as reported by PTI.
The dean added that students who will report to the campus are mandated to bring a vaccination certificate and a negative RT-PCR report with them.
"The academic activities of other semesters will be resumed in a phased manner", said NIT Srinagar Director Rakesh Sehgal, as reported by PTI.
