District Collector inspects Hanuman Jayanthi preparations at Namakkal Anjaneyar Temple; over one lakh devotees expected, elaborate arrangements made.
District Collector S. Uma on Sunday inspected the preparatory works for Hanuman Jayanthi at the Namakkal Anjaneyar Temple.
Over one lakh devotees visit the famous temple from across the State to offer prayers on this day every year. The Namakkal district administration and the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR and CE) Department have made arrangements in and around the temple for the safety of devotees who will visit the temple on Monday.
A total of 20 priests, headed by Ramesh, a priest from Sri Rangam, have prepared 1.08 lakh ‘vadas’ to adorn the idol. They used 2,500 kg of split black urad dal, 600 litres of sesame oil, 32 kg of pepper, 32 kg of cumin, and 125 kg of salt.
The HR and CE officials said that during the special puja between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Monday, the ‘vadas’ will adorn the Anjaneyar idol; at 11 a.m., a special abhishekam will be performed, and in the afternoon, the idol will be decorated with a gold shield.
The main road leading to the temple will be blocked and vehicles will be diverted via Bus Stand Road. Drinking water would be provided to the devotees, and barricades placed in and around the temple for crowd management, the officials added.
