Coimbatore Corporation plans to create traffic islands at major junctions, enhancing safety and urban design with ₹5 crore funding.
Coimbatore Corporation has proposed to establish traffic islands at major road junctions across the city at an estimated cost of ₹5 crore, with funding support from the government and private partners.
Corporation officials said the traffic islands would be developed with greenery and statues, with the objective of improving road safety and contributing to urban design. In the Central Zone, the identified locations include Ward 32 at the junction of Sanganoor Main Road and Kannappa Nagar; Ward 49 at the junction of Puthiya Thittam Road and Bharathiyar Road; and Ward 82 at the Ukkadam bus stand area.
In the East Zone, works are planned in Ward 24 at the S-bend on Thanneer Pandal Road.
In the West Zone, the junction at Edayarpalayam in Ward 35 has been identified.
