'Clear debris': Hindu side in Gyanvapi Masjid case demands access to room under Shivling

The Hindu party in the Gyanvapi Masjid case has demanded that the debris in the passage leading to a room under the Shivling be cleared to grant access to the foundation of the structure that it says is a Shivling.

The Hindu party in the Gyanvapi Masjid case on Tuesday, May 17, said that a door leads to a room under the structure that it claims is a Shivalinga. It said that the passage that leads to the door is blocked by debris and demanded that the way be cleared.

Lawyers for the Hindu side claim that there is a door from the east to reach the Shivling just below the Vazukhana, but there is a lot of debris that needs to be removed. Lawyers representing the Hindu side said that the door is to the east and the court must permit them entry to the room that provides access to the Shivling.

Meanwhile, court commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra told the court that a videographer involved in the survey has spoken to the media, which may have breached the confidentiality of the report.

Vishnu Jain, one of the lawyers representing the Hindu side, said: “We haven’t been able to reach the room as the passage has been filled with debris. Hence, we are also demanding that the wall in front of the Nandi idol facing the Shivling be removed.”
