
Class 10 board exam results: Tamil Nadu records 93.8% pass

While Sivaganga topped the list with 98.3%, Virudhunagar came second at 97.4%, followed by Thoothukudi at 96.7%. This year’s pass percentage has surpassed the previous year’s 91.55%. However, the total number of students who appeared for the exam this year has fallen from the previous year — while 8,94,260 students wrote the exam last year, 8,71,239 appeared for it this year.
As many as 4,35,119 girls and 4,36,120 boys from a total of 12,485 schools wrote the exams. Girls outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 95.88, as against 91.74. As many as 15,652 students did not attend the exam.
Taking to X, Mr. Poyyamozhi congratulated the students and urged them to face the results with joy and confidence.
Out of the 12,485 schools in the State, including private and aided schools, 4,917 schools recorded a 100% pass. Out of these, 1,867 are government schools. As many as 10,838 students scored a centum in science, while 10,256 students scored a centum in social science. In Tamil, only eight centums were recorded. Math saw a massive dip in centums compared to last year’s 20,691, with this year only 1,996 students scoring 100.
This year, private schools outperformed others with 97.99% pass percentage, with girls-only schools coming second at 95.36%. Meanwhile, 12,290 candidates with disabilities wrote the exams, with 11,409 clearing the exam with 92.83% pass rate. As many as 230 prison inmates in the State passed the exam out of the total 237 who wrote the exam.
The Directorate of Government Examinations, in a press release, stated that students can take up the Class 10 supplementary exams from July 4, and those who pass it would be eligible for higher education from this academic year itself.
