AKPL launches Miyawaki afforestation training in Nellore to empower villagers in sustainable forest development and ecosystem preservation.
The Adani Krishnapatnam Port Limited (AKPL) on Friday (January 30, 2026) launched the ‘Miyawaki Afforestation Development campaign’ from Chalivendram village in Muthukuru mandal of SPSR Nellore district, as part of its model village development initiative.
The environment team of AKPL imparted training on the Miyawaki method of afforestation to 20 women and youths from Chalivendram village. This method helps develop dense forests on small plots of land, even in the backyards of houses.
Later, the trained women and youth will conduct training for the villagers on plantation using the Miyawaki method, which involves planting three to four saplings per square metre to develop a forest.
Jagdish Patel, Chief Executive Officer of AKPL said, “Plants and organic manure will be provided to the villagers following participatory approach of afforestation practices. The objective of the campaign is to make school-going children, women, youth, and elderly people of the peripheral villages sensitive to save plants and develop small afforestation based ecosystem.”
