Nashik Court sentences Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate to 2 years in cheating case, fined ₹50,000.
Nashik district Court on Thursday (February 20, 2025), sentenced Maharashtra’s Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate and his brother Sunil Kokate to two years imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹50,000 in a cheating case.
The court’s verdict comes after a case was filed against them for allegedly tampering with documents and cheating in 1995. Former Minister Tukaram Dighole had filed a petition against the Kokate brothers. The complaint was reportedly related to showing lower income for purchasing the house from the government’s 10% quota in 1995.
The complaint was filed at Sarkarwada Police Station. Both are booked under the Section related to cheating and forgery (420, 465, 471, and 47), of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
