Charu Asopa and Rajeev Sen head for divorce after months of troubled marriage

Charu Asopa and Rajeev Sen have finally filed for divorce. The duo started facing troubles in their marriage as soon as they tied the knot in 2019.

Things have finally gone downhill between Charu Asopa and her husband Rajeev Sen. According to reports, the couple have started legal formalities to part ways. Earlier, there had also been reports of their marriage hitting a rough patch, but this time things seem to a lot more serious as they have filed for divorce. The ex-couple started facing problems in their marriage almost as soon as they tied the knot in 2019. While they separated briefly in 2020, they are now headed towards divorce. In a new interview, Charu said that she has given enough chances to her husband and wishes for an amicable divorce now.

Opening up about her decision to separate from Rajeev Sen, Charu Asopra told The Times Of India that she sent a notice to him on June 7 seeking to part ways amicably. However, he replied with another notice levelling accusations against her. The actress said, “I didn’t want to talk about the problems in our marriage, but I have been forced to talk about it now because Rajeev is spreading lies about me, which is damaging to my reputation. Yes, we have taken the legal route to end the marriage and I initiated the process.”

Charu, who shares daughter Ziana with Rajeev, says there is ‘nothing left’ in their marriage anymore. “Everyone knows that we have been having problems in our marriage for the past three years, since the time we tied the knot. But I kept giving him chances. Earlier, it was for me and then for our daughter, Ziana. Par woh ek chance dete dete teen saal kab nikal gaye mujhe kuch pata nahi chala (But I don't know how giving yet another chance led to three years of this). He has trust issues and I can't take it anymore. I sent him a simple notice asking for an amicable separation, as there is nothing left in our relationship. I want to part ways because I don't want my daughter to grow up in a toxic and abusive environment. I don't want her to see people hurling abuses at each other,” she said.

Talking about the allegations that Rajeev has levelled against her in the notice, Asopa said, “He is claiming that he didn’t know about my first marriage! Not only did he know about it, but also appreciated me for moving on from my past and making it on my own in Mumbai. My first marriage happened in February 2007 when I was just 18 and we separated in November 2016 owing to compatibility issues. Rajeev has accused me of being a bad mother as he doesn’t appreciate me posting Ziana’s pictures on social media. He says nazar lag jaati hai. I am not superstitious like him and don’t want my daughter to be exposed to such a mindset.”

Recently, Charu in one of her Vlogs, had hinted at problems in her marriage. Indirectly, she condemned her husband Rajeev for not being present for their daughter, Ziana. She also criticised him in a discreet manner for asking her not to reveal Ziana's face in her social media posts but he himself shares his videos with her thumbnail. Charu shared this video after Rajeev said in one of his vlogs that he is not comfortable with his daughter getting too much exposure at a young age. He even said that he doesn't want to show on camera how much he is missing Ziana for sympathy.
