The Congress’s decision to change Punjab chief minister, replacing Jat Sikh Captain Amarinder Singh with Dalit Sikh Charanjit Singh Channi, has failed to revive its electoral prospects in the state.
Of the 35 seats in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, the AAP won 14 as the results were declared by Monday noon. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stood second with 12 seats. The Congress was third with eight seats and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) won one.
