CFMoto 800MT revealed, is this the budget KTM adventure you’ve been waiting for?
India Today
KTM’s Chinese partner CFMoto have just pulled the wraps on the new CFMoto 800MT adventure tourer that uses the potent LC8 motor from the 790 Adventure and put it in budget packaging. Should you be excited?
CFMoto unveiled their new adventure tourer, the 800MT at the 2021 Shanghai Motor Show. Under usual circumstances, this would have been just another Chinese motorcycle, with little relevance to India. The thing is, the CF Moto 800MT is no ordinary motorcycle and the relevance for the Indian market could not be higher! Before we get to the brass tacks about the motorcycle, it’s important to keep in mind that CFMoto is a major partner to KTM in China. As you’d imagine, this gives CFMoto access to the old KTM part’s bin. If I hadn’t already given away the plot, the headlines are, the 800MT is powered by KTMs incredible LC8 motor parallel twin motor from the 790 Duke and the 790 Adventure. A budget 790 Adventure, you say? Well, not entirely. For one the 799cc twin is detuned, now making 94bhp and 77Nm of torque. Secondly the 800MT, is built around a CFMoto frame and uses independently developed electronics, different brakes and suspension equipment. These components usually define the experience of the motorcycle, which means any claims of being a budget KTM should be taken with a pinch of salt.
