CBSE to restore single board exam next year

CBSE to restore single board exam next year

CBSE has decided to go back to its single board exam format as in the pre-pandemic time from the next academic year 2022-23 onwards.

CBSE has decided to go back to its single board exam format as in the pre-pandemic time from the next academic year 2022-23 onwards, sources in the education ministry revealed the change in plans of the national education board.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had started off the dual board exam policy from 2021-22 onwards wherein the entire syllabus of Classes 10 and 12 would be divided into two halves which would be the basis for two board exams in a year the first one in November-December and the next one in March-April.

The decision had been taken because the 2020-21 board exams had to be cancelled because of the Covid-19 scenario and students had to be evaluated on internal assessments, practical exams and projects.

The CBSE Term 2 board exams are now scheduled to begin from April 26 onwards and it has been decided that the Term 2 board exam will have more weightage than the Term 1 exams which is a shift from the earlier decision of equal weightage for both.

Now, after CBSE received word from schools regarding the issues faced in the two-board exam format, it has decided to return to its previous single board exam format.

As per reports, the senior official said that CBSE had never said that the two-board exam format would be continued and that it was just a one-time formula only.

The official said that now that schools was functioning normally, the single-board exam format would be brought back by CBSE.
