CBI arrests 2 superintendents in CGST, Customs Excise dept while accepting bribe

Two superintendents in CGST, Customs Excise dept were arrested by the CBI while accepting bribe in Bhopal.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two GST and Central Excise superintendents for allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs 2 lakh.
Ankur Khandelwal and Chetan Saxena, both superintendents in CGST and Customs Excise department, Bhopal, had allegedly demanded Rs 10 lakh from a businessman for settling his pending tax issue, the officials said.
A case was registered against both the superintendents of CGST and Central Excise department on the complaint alleging for demand of undue advantage of Rs 10 lakh from the complainant for settling the CGST case against his partnership firm. After negotiation, the accused agreed to accept the bribe of Rs 2 lakh on April 20.

The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while demanding and accepting bribe from the complainant. Searches were conducted at the premises of both the accused in Bhopal which led to the recovery of incriminating documents/articles.
The arrested accused were produced before the special judge for CBI cases in Bhopal on Thursday.
