The role of academia and industry in shaping the dynamics of business innovations and trends was the focus of a seminar organised by the Centre for Distance and Online Education, Bharathidasan University (BDU), recently. The 22nd annual issue of SMART Journal of Business Management Studies was released on the occasion and the 17th SMART Journal awards were presented. Satish S. Maheswarappa, Dean (Academics) and Professor of Marketing, Indian Institute of Management — Tiruchi, delivered the inaugural address. Over 50 research papers were presented. M. Selvam, founder – publisher and chief editor, SMART Journal of Business Management Studies, spoke.
The Environmental Club of Jamal Mohamed College of Teacher Education inaugurated a herbal garden on the college campus recently to promote environmental awareness and the importance of medicinal plants. Faculty members and students actively participated in planting medicinal plants such as tulsi, aloe vera, omavalli, betel leaves, and sabja seeds. A.K. PG students of Physics, Chemistry, Geology and Life Sciences learned about career opportunities in the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), during an outreach programme held by PG and Research Department of Physics, National College, under the auspices of Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Post-Graduates (OCES) and the DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme recently. K. Kothai Parthasarathy and K. Saipriya from the Planning and HRM Division, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, spoke on the research opportunities and career prospects available in DAE units.
P. Paratheepan, Vice-Chancellor, Eastern University, Sri Lanka, delivered the 10th Sir C. V. Raman Memorial Endowment Lecture on recent advancements in thermoelectrics hosted by the Department of Physics of the college. S. Kumaresan spoke on the life and contributions of Sir C. V. Raman.
Praveen Kumar, dean, Faculty of Management, SRM Ramapuram Campus, Chennai, delivered a talk on sustainability and digital transformation in modern business strategies as part of a national virtual conference on the topic hosted by the Department of Commerce (Shift II), St. Joseph’s College recently. The conference proceedings were released by principal S. Mariadoss. Two technical sessions, helmed by subject experts, were held as part of the conference.
Sessions to promote physical fitness and mental well-being among students and faculty were organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College recently. Subhashini Dineshkumar of F2 Fusion Fitness Studio conducted workout sessions titled “Rhythm Revival, Fit Frenzy, and Step Up Your Fitness” for students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff.
