Students of A.D.M. College for Women, Nagapattinam, showcased their skills in a variety of inter-departmental competitions and cultural shows as part of the ‘ADMC Golden Glow 2K26’ programme recently. The two-day event featured competitive memory games, fruit-carving and bridal make-up, among others. Students presented classical and folk dances, fashion parades, and mime shows as part of the programme.
The C.S. Vaidyanathan Chair on Law and Development, School of Law, SASTRA, conducted a free legal aid camp at the Panchayat Union Middle School, Manojipatti, near Thanjavur last week wherein 35 cases relating to various legal issues and grievances were raised and discussed. First-year B.Com. LLB (Honours) students and members of SASTRA Legal Aid Clinic staged a drama emphasising the importance of free legal aid and the need for legal awareness among the public. The camp was held in the presence of D. Bharathi, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority.
The role of science and engineering in combating global warming was highlighted by R. Sathishkumar, Principal Research Scientist, Solid State and Structural Chemistry Unit, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, during a talk organised by the Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering at the Government Women’s Polytechnic College, Karaikalmedu, Karaikal recently. He outlined the impact of global warming on the environment and mankind, and how students could take steps to arrest the phenomenon through eco-friendly initiatives. Principal R. Babu Ashok spoke.
A recent conference on emerging technologies hosted by the Research Park of Bharath College of Science and Management, Thanjavur, provided a global platform for researchers, academicians, industry experts, and students to exchange ideas and promote interdisciplinary research for sustainable development. The inaugural address was delivered by Kumudha Lingaraj, Dean, Vels Medical College and Hospital. All research papers presented during the conference were registered as Intellectual Property (IP) with the support of the technology partner Just Pitch. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Bharath College and Just Pitch, recognising the institution as an early adopter in fostering innovation, research commercialization, and IP protection.
The School of Engineering, Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), and Internal Quality Assurance Cell at Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, Perambalur, gave students an overview of job opportunities in the public service and information technology sectors through a workshop recently. Resource person T. Ravishankar, Senior Planning Engineer, Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. (NPCIL), Kudankulam, spoke on competitive examinations, recruitment procedures, industry expectations, and the technical and employability skills students need to develop for career success.
Students of the Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Polytechnic College, Perambalur, participated in a regional-level badminton tournament and won first place recently. Ten secured “O Grade” in all subjects, earning first place at the State level. In addition, all final-year students of the Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Civil Engineering departments achieved 100% pass results, marking a significant academic milestone. A. Srinivasan, Chancellor, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, felicitated the student achievers.
