By-election for Damoh assembly constituency splits MP BJP into two groups

The seat of Damoh fell vacant after Congress MLA Rahul Lodhi resigned from the membership of the party and joined BJP in October 2020.

Voting for the by-election at Damoh Assembly in Madhya Pradesh will be held on April 17, the Election Commission (EC) announced on Tuesday. The election result will be declared on May 2. The seat of Damoh fell vacant after Congress MLA Rahul Lodhi resigned from the membership of the party and joined BJP in October 2020. The notifications for the by-election will be issued on March 23. The last date for the nomination would be March 30 while scrutiny of nominations would be concluded by March 31. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is April 3 while voting would be held on April 17 and counting on May 2.
