Just moments before a double-decker bus carrying school students crashed into a shop in northeast London, it narrowly avoided hitting a woman who was on a zebra crossing. A CCTV footage that captured the incident has gone viral on social media. The double-decker bus met with an accident at Selwyn Avenue in Highams Park.
The footage shows the bus nearly hitting a woman as she crossed the road outside The Corner Cafe on Broadway. This happened just minutes before the bus collided with a white goods store. The medical team treated 19 patients at the scene, and five people - three children and two adults - were taken to the hospital.

The CCTV footage of the bus nearly hitting a woman on the zebra crossing was shared by the owner of the café Eric Garip. The woman had entered the coffee shop just minutes after the incident 'in an awful shock'.
Waitress Tina Hogan, who works at The Corner Café, said, “She was saying '’Oh my god, he nearly ran me over. I can't believe it. I had to run out of his way.’ She was in an awful shock. I gave her a glass of water. She left after that.”
People who witnessed the incident said that the driver 'blacked out' shortly before the bus crossed an island in the road and smashed into the shop.
