BJP leader Hardik Patel slammed on social media for offering jobs to Agniveers

Patidar leader Hardik Patel was criticised on social media for offering jobs to 10 Agnipath recruits.

BJP leader Hardik Patel was slammed on social media for speaking in favour of the Agnipath scheme and offering jobs to Agniveers. Patel was criticised for a Facebook post in which he pledged assistance in finding jobs for 10 Agniveers.

Patel, who recently left Congress to join the BJP, pledged support to 10 Agniveers from the first batch and requested top Patidar leaders to help the Agniveers.

However, people slammed the Patidar leader on Facebook for ignoring the plight of youth from his own community. Some asked Patel to provide jobs for kin of 14 Patidar community members who died during the Patidar Andolan of 2015. This has been a key demand of the community for some years now.

In his Facebook post, Patel said, " The Patidar community has always been at the forefront for service to the nation. The Agnipath scheme announced by the government is inspiring for the youth of the country. In order to make the future of Agniveers prosperous, different ministries, state governments and institutions have decided to give priority to them in jobs."

"I request the prominent industrialists of the Patidar community to announce priority in jobs for these skilled and disciplined Agniveers in your industries and organisations. The assurance given by you will create a new confidence in the youth of the country and will make this historic step by Prime Minister Narendra Modi more meaningful," he further said.

"I will personally provide 10 Agniveers of the first batch of Agniveers with a good job or whatever assistance they need in industry," he added, inviting backlash.
