The issue of naming a stretch of road after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has left the BJP in Mysuru divided with the party leaders accusing former MP Prathap Simha of engaging in “buttering” the Congress.
Mr. Simha had backed the proposal to name a stretch of KRS Road in Mysuru after Mr. Siddaramaiah on the grounds that his contributions to the city could not be ignored.
Hitting out at Mr. Simha here on Thursday, BJP OBC Morcha State president Raghu accused the former MP of “holding the bucket’’ (“bucket hidiyodu”) a Kannada phrase connoting appeasement to curry favour.
He said the party’s stance was clear and there was no objection to naming any new road after Mr. Siddaramaiah but the existing names should not be changed.
On Mr. Simha’s view Mr. Raghu said it was nothing but a “bucket statement” and urged the former MP to desist from taking a stance that was at variance with the party’s official stand. If he continued in the same vein then it would be brought to the notice of the party leaders, said Mr. Raghu.
“Mr. Simha should stop holding the bucket,” he added.
Incidentally, Mr.Simha, was sidelined and denied the ticket to contest and seek a re-election as an MP from Mysuru for the third time during the Lok Sabha elections held early this year.
