BJP fact-finding committee members are political tourists, says Trinamool Congress

BJP fact-finding committee members are political tourists, says Trinamool Congress

The TMC slammed the BJP’s five-member fact-finding committee who reached Kolkata to look into the alleged assault on its members and said that they visited the state for “political tourism”.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday slammed the BJP’s five-member fact-finding committee and said that they visited the state for “political tourism”. A five-member BJP fact-finding team reached Kolkata on Friday to look into the alleged assault on its members during the ‘Nabanna March’ in West Bengal.

“The members are political tourists. They have been visiting injured workers and leaders of their party. But why did they fail or refrain from meeting Kolkata’s Assistant Commissioner of Police whom the BJP’s cadres attempted to kill?" West Bengal minister in charge Dr Shashi Panja asked.

Trinamool Congress also criticized the BJP, saying that fact-finding teams never reach states such as Uttar Pradesh where the dead bodies of two girls were found earlier this week.

"In such cases, the women's rights commission or child rights commission never reach there. Don't you people have any real issues to worry about? Any concern about protecting or serving the nation? You people have gone far away from good governance,” she said.

Meanwhile, TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said that the BJP goons had prepared an armoury of sticks, stones and bombs for Nabbanna Abhijan.

“They tried to kill police officers. 27 police personnel were injured. The daily lives of people were disrupted. Their fact-finding committee should take statements from businessmen of Burrabazar and Howrah to ask how the BJP cadre disrupted their lives. The BJP fact-finding committee should ask Suvendu Adhikari why he walked to the police van and surrendered. BJP raised this issue in the assembly but did not have enough leaders in the House to discuss the matter,” the TMC spokesperson said.
