BJP delegation meets party workers injured in protests against TMC in Kolkata

A delegation of the BJP delegation met party workers injured in the protest march against TMC in Kolkata.

A five-member delegation appointed by BJP national president JP Nadda on Saturday met the party workers that were injured during the protest march against the TMC in Kolkata. The BJP conducted a 'Nabanna Chalo' rally on September 13 against alleged practices of the TMC government.

The fact finding committee consisting of former Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police, Brijlal, Rajya Sabha MPs Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Samir Oraon, Aparajita Sarangi and Sunil Jakhar visited injured BJP councillor Meena Devi Purohit. The team will submit a report to JP Nadda.

Meena Devi Purohit told India Today that she had to get seven stitches in her head. She said she was attacked from behind by male policemen wielding lathis. She added, “These were gundas in police uniforms.” Earlier there were 34 years of left-rule violence and now there is TMC's violence, she added.

After meeting Meena Devi Purohit at her residence, Sunil Jhakar spoke to India Today and said the force used by the police during the protest was a mere show of arrogance by the TMC.

Sunil Jhakar said, "These atrocities show the barbarism of the TMC. Abhishek Banerjee said that he would have shot the party workers. This is sheer arrogance. The people of Bengal are observing this arrogance and the corrupt activities of TMC."

Former union minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore also criticised Abhishek Banerjee’s comment and said the TMC leader’s remark should be condemned by everyone.
