BJP chief terms violence during religious processions a conspiracy, blames Congress

BJP president JP Nadda on Sunday claimed that recent communal violence on Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti were a "conspiracy" to cause disintegration in society.

BJP president JP Nadda on Sunday claimed that recent communal violence on Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti were a "conspiracy" to cause disintegration in society.

Addressing party workers in Karnataka, he claimed that the attacks on the processions were an outcome of the “desperation” caused by the BJP’s resounding victory in the five state assembly elections in March this year.

"The historic mandate given to the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur has jolted some people. Hence in desperation they have associated themselves with the conspiracies of those who work to disintegrate the society. Due to this, there have been attacks on processions during Hanuman Jayanti and Ram Navami," Nadda said.

Nadda blamed the Congress, the main opposition to the ruling BJP in Karnataka, for behaving in an irresponsible manner when it comes to the communal clashes. He alleged that the previous government in the state led by senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah had freed members of the Popular Front of India (PFI), an extremist Muslim organisation.

“Congress speaks against terrorism for show, but when it is in power it spares terrorists. On the inside, they befriend the disruptive forces but walk outside wearing a mask. It is necessary to expose them,” said the BJP chief.

Nadda asserted that the BJP government will take action against the culprits.
