(Subscribe to our Today's Cache newsletter for a quick snapshot of top 5 tech stories. Click to subscribe for free.) Great video games walk the tightrope of balancing world-building and gameplay. This is especially common with role-playing games, as they have to juggle story, exploration, levelling-up and fighting mechanics, but even if there is a ball or two dropped along the way, the game can still manage the act.
