A Bengaluru man accidentally paid his Rapido auto driver double the fare due to a UPI glitch, but what he did next left the man as well as social media users stunned.
A man shared his experience with a Rapido auto driver where he accidentally paid double the fare due to a UPI glitch, and ended up getting the extra money back from him later in the day.
The incident was shared on r/bangalore, where the user wrote about what happened after completing a routine auto ride booked through Rapido. Explaining the situation, he wrote, “I was using a Rapido auto. After the ride, I paid the amount via UPI, but because of some bank issue on his side, the payment showed as pending.”
To resolve the issue, the driver offered an alternative payment method. “He then gave me another UPI ID and asked me to pay there. I did, and this one went through successfully,” the user explained. However, the situation took a turn when “somehow, at the same time, the first payment also got marked as successful, so now he had received double the amount.”
According to the post, the driver did not hesitate to correct the mistake. “He immediately tried to send the extra money back to me, but his UPI kept failing. He tried twice, both times failed,” the man wrote.
With a doctor’s appointment to attend, the man had little time to wait. “I was already in a hurry because I had to go for a doctor's visit. He asked for my number and said he would send it later.”
Admitting that he did not expect the money to return, the user added, “Honestly, I gave my number thinking, Okay, this money is probably gone.” But hours later, the driver followed through on his word. “But tonight around 8:30 PM, he actually sent the money back,” he mentioned.

The profiles of at least three of China's leading nuclear, missile and radar experts were scrubbed from the website of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the country's most prestigious academic body. This comes as a series of purges under Premier Xi Jinping's anti-corruption campaign have decimated the upper echelons of China's military and scientific community.

The aircraft had also been used by senior Iranian officials and military figures for both domestic and international travel, and for coordinating with allied countries, the Israeli military said. Meanwhile, Dubai International Airport has resumed flight operations after a temporary suspension of about seven hours caused by a drone strike near a fuel tank facility.
