Bengal governor writes to CM as TMC members protest outside judge’s chamber

TMC's legal cell members protested outside the chamber of Justice Abhijit Ganguly, who ordered Partha Chatterjee to meet CBI officials in connection with the SSC recruitment case.
West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar has written to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after a section of the Trinamool Congress' legal cell protested in front of the chamber of Justice Abhijit Ganguly inside the High Court. In his letter, the governor requested a meeting with the chief minister over the incident in court.
Justice Ganguly, on Tuesday, had ordered Partha Chatterjee, the former education minister, to meet officers of the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the SSC recruitment case.
“Denial of access to justice and obstruction in the functioning of court sounds the death knell of democracy,” the governor wrote.
“WB Guv has urged CM Mamata Banerjee for interaction during the day in view of disturbing and unprecedented worrisome scenario in the precincts of High Court at Calcutta as also the recent spate of heinous crime against women and continual deteriorating law and order in the State,” Dhankhar’s official Twitter handle said.
