Assembly panel visits Vattavada

Kerala State Legislative Assembly panel inspects abandoned model village project in Vattavada, plans alternative uses for land.
The Kerala State Legislative Assembly Local Fund Accounts Panel visited Vattavada panchayat near Munnar in Idukki on Thursday to inspect a two-acre plot of land reserved for a 2018 model village project in Vattavada that was later dropped off due to various reasons.
The panel, led by its chairperson and MLA T.P. Ramakrishnan, interacted with the panchayat president and members about the project at the panchayat conference hall. “We should strengthen road development in Vattavada and ensure public participation in the emerging tourism development here,” he said.
After the meeting, Mr. Ramakrishnan said that a detailed report will be submitted to the State government on other uses for the land reserved for the project.
The meeting was attended by panel members and MLAs A.C. Moitheen, T.I. Madusoodanan, Eldhose Kunnappally, K.P. Kunjahammedkutty, and A. Raja, among others.
