The flood situation worsened in Assam's Nagaon district due to heavy rainfall in the state. Over 41,000 people have been affected by the current wave of floods in Cachar alone.
The flood situation in Assam continues to remain grim amid heavy downpour on Monday. A flood-like situation was witnessed in Nagaon district's Kampur area and it has only worsened as the floodwaters of the Kopili river submerged several villages and cropland, reported news agency ANI.
The water level in the Kopili river in Nagaon district continues to flow above the danger level mark and has crossed its previous highest flood level of 61.79 meters. The state has been hit by the first wave of floods this year due to incessant rainfall for the past couple of days, following which the water level of several rivers has gradually increased.
