Former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot signal truce at event honoring Rajesh Pilot, showcasing Congress unity.
Signalling truce with his former deputy Sachin Pilot, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday (June 11, 2025) said they were “never distant”.
Mr. Gehlot spoke at an event to commemorate the 25th death anniversary of former Union Minister and Mr. Pilot’s father, Rajesh Pilot, in Rajasthan’s Dausa.
The event, which included a tribute and an exhibition on Rajesh Pilot’s life and legacy, became an occasion for the Congress to display internal cohesion and unity.
It was attended by several Congress leaders, including All India Congress Committee (AICC) Rajasthan in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Pradesh Congress Committee chief Govind Singh Dotasra, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Tikaram Jully, party MPs and MLAs, former Ministers apart from Mr. Gehlot.
“Ham Door Kab The? Ham Dur The Hi Nahi. Prem Mohabbat Bani Rahti Hai aur Bani Rahegi. [When were we ever far apart? We were never distant. Love and affection remain and will continue to remain],” Mr. Gehlot responded when reporters asked him about the political message behind the two leaders coming together.
The former Rajasthan Chief Minister paid rich tributes to Rajaesh Pilot’s legacy, saying young and elderly people have come to the event because of the late leader’s personality. “This gathering in itself is a message about the kind of personality he had. I have worked with him and memories of that time have also been refreshed today,” he said.
The former Union Minister, who was a Lok Sabha member from Dausa constituency, died in a road accident on June 11, 2000.
