Entrepreneur and Bengali actress Arpita Chatterjee said that she helped her husband, celebrated actor Prosenjit, rebuild his mental stability after quitting her career in films following their marriage.
She was speaking during a session at the India Today Conclave East 2022 in Kolkata’s Grand Oberoi on July 5. The session, titled Being The Better Half: Finding an Identity Beyond the Shadow of a Super Spouse, was attended by other speakers as well, including Dr Rita Choudhury, Dr Mehtab Chandee and Aimee Baruah.
Here are excerpts from their session:
DR RITA CHOWDHURY
Asked whether her success is attributed to being the wife of politician Chandra Mohan Patowary, author, Dr Rita Chowdhury said, “That phase is over. People have stopped. I personally feel that when people try to break me or pull me down, they use this identity. It was painful for me, but now I have learnt to ignore it. This is the most powerful weapon to win, be strong and grounded against these kinds of attacks."
DR MEHTAB CHANDEE
Dr Mehtab Chandee was asked whether she gets certain advantages since she is Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma's wife. "I don't practice anymore. It was my conscious decision to take care of the family. I was asked to take over the company by Conrad after his father passed away. I said, let me try and now I am happy. I have found my own individuality."
