
Apple supplier Foxconn to hire more people, offer bonuses as Apple gears up for iPhone 14 launch

Apple’s Foxconn plant is aggressively hiring for workers and no brownie points for guessing why. Apple is slated to launch the iPhone 14 series in September this year. The plant is now on a hiring spree and will also offer bonuses to new workers as Apple is gearing up for the iPhone 14 launch. Last month, Foxconn had stopped fresh hirings due to rise in COVID cases in China.
As per South China Morning Post, Foxconn has started hiring new assembly line workers and trainees. It will also offer bonuses up to 9,000 yuan (Rs 1 lakh roughly). The report reveals that workers are required to stay on them job for at least four months to be eligible for the bonus. The South China Morning Post spotted the recruitment notice on Monday by Foxconn’s Digital Product Business Group, which is responsible for the production of the iPhone 14.
“Foxconn’s latest recruitment drive is expected to scale up cash rewards to woo more workers back in the following months, as the contract manufacturer tries to provide a stable level of production,” said Ivan Lam, Hong Kong-based analyst at Counterpoint Research.
Foxconn plant is responsible for producing about 80% per cent of iPhones worldwide, the report says that the summer hiring is indicative of the fact that Apple is preparing for a new launch.The report further notes that Apple may consider reallocating some orders for new iPhones on other planets in China in case Foxconn’s production gets disrupted due to various reasons. However, it is unlikely for people to shift the production of new phones outside of China.
