Apple may confirm March 8 event today for likely launch of iPhone SE 3 5G

If Apple is planning to hold the event for the launch of the next iPhone SE, it is very likely to send out invites to the media later today, and that will confirm the rumours around the iPhone SE 3 so far.

Apple may be planning to hold its Sprint Event on March 8, according to several reports. If it is true, an announcement is expected later today. Usually, Apple sends the invites for its upcoming event a week before the schedule, so if March 8 is when Apple’s Spring Event is expected to take place, we would get the confirmation by today.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said in early February that Apple is planning to hold an event on Tuesday, March 8, where it will very likely introduce the next iPhone SE model. He subsequently insisted that the Sprint Event would fall on March 8, if not before. That is the speculation right now and the only way to know if the event is on March 8 is through the Apple invite, which is expected by 9 am PST, which translates to 10.30 pm IST, Monday (March 1).

The lineup of products due for launch at the event may also include a Mac mini Pro and an affordable MacBook Pro. Gurman said that Apple is planning to expand its Mac lineup and the first few products of the new Mac generation may tag along with the iPhone SE 3. Apple recently filed three new Mac models, one iPad, and one iPhone in the Eurasian Economic Database, which hints that the launch of these products is imminent.

Another reason why everybody thinks the Apple event will take place on March 8 is that it is a Tuesday that day. Apple usually schedules its events on Tuesdays, so it is hard to imagine why the Spring Event of 2022 would fall on some other day.

If Apple’s first event of 2022 is indeed on March 8, we are only a few days away from seeing the next affordable iPhone. This could be Apple’s cheapest 5G iPhone, but the internet is divided on whether the name would be iPhone SE 3 or iPhone SE+. Multiple reports have said that the next iPhone SE will bring major performance improvements over the 2nd-generation iPhone SE as Apple may use the A15 Bionic chipset. There may also be some camera improvements on the 3rd-generation iPhone SE.

However, the design of the iPhone SE 3 may still be the same as the iPhone SE 2020. Gurman and many other sources have claimed that Apple is unlikely to change the design of the upcoming iPhone SE, although there were once rumours that the 2022 iPhone SE may borrow the design from the iPhone XR.
