Mark German has reported multiple times that Apple has planned a new MacBook Air for Apple’s developer conference.
The rumours of Apple announcing a new MacBook Air at WWDC 2022 refuse to die down. Acclaimed reporter Mark German has reported multiple times that Apple has planned a new MacBook Air for Apple’s developer conference. Another set of leaks suggested that the Apple MacBook Air will arrive in new colours, but Gurman has clarified that though the MacBook Air could be announced during the event, the chances of Apple launching new colours is less.
Talking about the new MacBook Air, Gurman tweeted, “The much-reported idea of the new MacBook Air coming in a range of “ several colors” is probably exaggerated. Right now it comes in space gray, silver and gold. I wouldn’t expect more than those colors (though the new gold will be more champagne like) plus my favorite iMac color.
German also stated that the only reason why Apple might not announce the MacBook Air for the WWDC. I think the only way it doesn’t is if the China factory shutdowns created such a supply and release date gap that it wouldn’t make sense to announce it on Monday,” he added.
Several rumours and leaks have suggested that Apple might finally refresh the design of the MacBook Air. For instance, the new MacBook Air is expected to the LCD for a MiniLED display. It will continue to be the lightest model in Apple’s Mac lineup.
The reports also suggest that the new MacBook Air could feature an improved FaceTime HD camera that supports 1080p resolution. The current line-up of MacBook Air models sports 720p HD webcams.
One of the major overhauls that the new MacBook Air is expected to come with is the all-new chipset. Apple is expected to introduce the M2 chip, which is the successor to Apple’s super successful M1 chip. The new chip will be faster and more efficient in terms of performance.
Apart from the MacBook Air, Apple is also expected to announce its latest iOS 16, iPad OS 16, watchOS, macOS 13 in WWDC 2022. The upcoming iOS 16 software update is expected to bring the much-awaited Always-On Display (AoD) feature.
