Apple is the most valued brand of 2022, followed by Amazon, Google, Microsoft and more tech firms

Apple has been ranked at the top of the list showing 500 global companies with the highest brand values. The company's continued success across verticals is being credited to the strong brand value tied to Apple.

Apple's success is no mystery to the world. The technology company rooted in Cupertino has spread its wings over the decades to far corners of the globe and has only seen a steady increase in value to rank at the top of all multinationals in the world. A new report reiterates this dominance.

The Global 500 2022 report by Brandirectory, which follows research conducted recently, suggests that Apple is the world’s most valuable brand for 2022. Apple snatches the top spot with a total valuation of $355.1 billion, as calculated by Brand Directory. This is the highest brand value ever recorded in the Brand Finance Global 500 ranking. Note that the valuation is not reflective of Apple’s market cap but comes from Brand Directory's own research.

The report mentions that Apple’s brand value increased by 35 per cent over last year to touch the record high. The growth was strongly founded on the success of both the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 13 across the globe. However, this was further enhanced by the slew of products by the company across other verticals. These include the new generation of iPads, iMac, MacBooks as well as the AirTag.

In addition, Apple also showed tremendous growth in the host of services it offers. Apple Music, Apple Pay, Apple TV and other such platforms all grew in popularity as well as attracted more revenue than before, propelling Apple's brand value to the top.

Following Apple are other tech majors, including Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Samsung, Facebook or Meta, Huawei and Verizon. The only two non-tech companies in the top 10 list include Walmart placed at fifth position and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China placed at 8th.

The report mentions similar growth for Google as Apple, with a 38 per cent jump putting its brand value at $263.4 billion. Google’s growth reflects a sharp rebound from its advertisement revenues that were largely hurt at the time of the pandemic. Samsung has also been able to see a growth put its brand value at $107.3 billion in 2022, a 5 per cent increase from last year. Samsung group ranked sixth on the list and is the only Korean brand among the top 25 most valued brands.

The title for the fastest-growing brand, however, went to TikTok, which registered a 215 per cent growth to put its brand value at $59 billion this year. It attains the 18th spot and is the top new entrant in the Brand Finance Global 500 2022 ranking.
