A patent application made public recently shows that Apple has been working on the technology since 2019. Under the name "Packaging Technologies for Temperature Sensing in Health Care Products," the patent describes “temperature sensor packages and methods of fabrication” for making this possible. Among the wide variety of use listed for the technology, “wearable health devices” is one.
