Andhra Pradesh man held for duping 7 women on matrimonial sites

A 33-year-old man from Andhra Pradesh was held for duping seven women on matrimonial sites.

A 33-year-old man was arrested by Telangana Police for duping women on the pretext of marriage. The accused, identified as Adapa Shiv Shankar Babu, allegedly targeted seven rich women, who were divorced and looking for alliances on matrimony sites.

He married six of them in the twin states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and duped them of Rs 50 lakhs.

Shivshankar Babu was held by Gachibowli Police after a victim filed a complaint. The woman in her complaint claimed that he took Rs 30 lakh from her and mortgaged her gold promising marriage.

The police, after an initial investigation, found that the 33-year-old had married six women and duped them in a similar manner. According to inspector Suresh, the accused targeted divorced women through matrimonial websites. He would contact these women and cheat them after gaining trust.

There are cases registered against him at RC Puram Police station and KBHP Police station.

"He duped seven women and also mortgaged 200 grams of gold belongings to the victims. He has also cheated several people on the pretext of providing jobs. He has been arrested in Vizag and produced before court," the official said.
