An old video has surfaced, showing a priest cleaning the premises before Mata Shringar Gauri puja at Gyanvapi complex.
An exclusive video of people worshipping Mata Shringar Gauri in the Gyanvapi complex has surfaced. The video is from some time ago in which the priest is seen cleaning before worship.
This legal battle surrounding the Gyanvapi complex in Varanasi started when a group of women sought permission from the court to regularly worship idols of Hindu deities located on the outer wall of the mosque.
The Vyas family had been doing rituals at the complex for centuries. However, since 1991, worship has been allowed at this place only once a year on the day of Chaturthi of Chaitra Navratri.
From gate number 4, while going towards the main Gyanvapi temple, slabs of stone present in a heap of malba (rubble) between the masjid’s western wall and the inside of the barricading are visible. The platform of Mata Shringar Gauri, where worship is done, is situated here.
The case is centred on a petition seeking permission for Hindus to worship in the Gyanvapi mosque complex, behind the western wall of the premises.
Last month, a Varanasi court ordered a videographed survey of the Gyanvapi Masjid complex after the five Hindu women filed pleas.
