Alliance Air flight skids off runaway in Jabalpur, DGCA orders probe

An Alliance Air ATR-72 aircraft with 55 passengers on board went off the runway at Jabalpur on Saturday. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has also launched an investigation.
An Alliance Air flight left onlookers and passengers scared on Saturday after it had a runway excursion while landing at the Dumna Airport in Jabalpur, a town in India’s Madhya Pradesh (MP) state.
Flight ATR72-600 was scheduled to land in Jabalpur at around 1:15 PM, bringing 55 passengers and five crew members from Delhi.
Passengers were safely ushered to the arrival hall at the Jabalpur airport.
India’s civil aviation regulatory body - the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered an investigation into the case.
A runaway excursion is when the aircraft skids off the runway during take-off or landing. The aircraft can veer off its route while speeding up on the ground due to several factors, including weather circumstances, technical issues, or even a miscalculated approach to the runaway.
Details on what triggered this incident remain unknown as of now.
Alliance Air, which first launched its services in 1996, has yet to issue a public statement regarding the incident.
