Akshay Kumar's Prithviraj in trouble, Karni Sena warns film will meet Padmaavat's fate

Akshay Kumar's Prithviraj finds itself in trouble with the Karni Sena. The outfit demanded a title change, among others, from Aditya Chopra and the makers of the film, and threatened 'unfavourable consequences' similar to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat, in case they fail to comply.
The Karni Sena has issued a warning to Yash Raj Films and Aditya Chopra, the makers of Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Prithviraj, demanding a title change, among others. The film is based on the life of emperor Prithviraj Chauhan. Filmmaker Surjeet Singh Rathore, who is the President of Youth Wing of Karni Sena, shared a screenshot of a news article on Instagram and put forth three conditions. One of their demands is that the makers change the title of the film to incorporate the emperor's full name - Prithviraj Chauhan. Karni Sena Youth Wing President warned the makers that if they fail to comply with their demands, they would have to face ‘unfavourable consequences’, similar to what Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat faced during the time of its release. Surjeet Singh Rathore took to Instagram and wrote that the wing respects Akshay Kumar. However, producer Aditya Chopra should understand the sentiments of people and should respect the last ‘Hindu Samrat Veer Yoddha Prithviraj’. Rathore wrote his post in Hindi which roughly translates to, “In the film Prithviraj, Akshay Kumar plays the lead role and we respect him. However, the producer of the film, Aditya Chopra, should keep in mind and understand the sentiments of people and the last Hindu Samrat Veer Yoddha Prithviraj ji’s name should be taken with respect. Otherwise, the situation will be like Padmaavat.”More Related News
