Akshay Kumar's Housefull 2 is nonsense, but a solid entertainer. On Monday Masala

Released on April 5, 2012, Housefull 2 is probably the best film in the franchise. Starring Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Riteish Deshmukh and Shreyas Talpade, the film is directed by Sajid Khan.

Before Rohit Shetty came up with the idea of a cop universe with Singham, Singham 2, Simmba and Sooryavanshi, it was the Housefull series which was considered an epic film franchise. The hilarious ride began in 2010 with Housefull, but most did not expect the second film — as is generally the case with sequels — to match the first one. Well, well. Housefull 2 can, without a doubt, be called the most entertaining film in the franchise so far. From its storyline and characters to the dance sequences and funny dialogues, the film has every element that makes for an enjoyable watch. After this one, it was all downhill for the next Housefull films. Housefull 4, in particular, was a dreadful outing. But that is the subject of another story. Today, as Housefull 2 turns 9 years (April 5), we look back at all the fun elements which made the film one of the classics in the comedy genre.
