Akshay Kumar gets teary-eyed remembering his late mom at Prithviraj trailer launch

At the trailer launch of Prithviraj, Akshay Kumar got emotional as he remembered his late mother at the event. The actor recently penned a heartfelt note for his mom on Mother's Day.

The trailer of Akshay Kumar's Prithviraj was released today, May 9. At a grand launch event that took place in Mumbai, Akshay Kumar not just released his film's trailer but he also spoke about Prithviraj at length. Khiladi Kumar also got teary-eyed while remembering his late mother, Aruna Bhatia. While remembering his late mom, Akshay wished that his mom could be around to see him play the lead role in Prithviraj.

At the event, Akshay Kumar said, "Prithviraj is an educational film. It is something everyone should learn and know about. I am very proud to be associated with the film and I wish my mother would be around to see me playing this. She would be so proud." The actor further mentioned that he did not learn or unlearn anything in particular. "I just got myself to the sets and followed the director," he added.

On the other hand, his co-star Manushi Chhillar mentioned that it wasn't her agenda to be an actress. "It wasn’t on my agenda to be an actress but when this film came to me, I had no reason to say no. It was perhaps the biggest launch anyone would ask for," said Manushi.

Directed by Chandraprakash Diwedi, the Akshay Kumar-starrer is based on Prithviraj Raso, a Braj Bhasha epic poem about the life of Prithviraj Chauhan, the king from the Chahamana dynasty. Besides Akshay and Manushi, the historical drama also features Sonu Sood, Manav Vij, Sakshi Tanwar, Ashutosh Rana and Lalit Tiwari in important roles.

Produced by Yash Raj Films, Prithviraj is scheduled for release on June 3, 2022.
