
J. Anuradha takes over as UoH in-charge Vice-Chancellor

Anuradha Jonnalagadda took over as in-charge Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad, focusing on continuity during the transition.
Anuradha Jonnalagadda Tadakamalla took over as the in-charge Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad (UoH), with effect from March 13, the university communicated on Monday (March 23, 2026). B. J. Rao was relieved from the post on March 12, on attaining the age of 70 years and completing his tenure.
Ms. Anuradha, the senior-most professor at the university, assumed charge in accordance with the University Acts & Statutes. Having been with the university for over three decades, she served as Head of the Department of Dance and Dean of the Sarojini Naidu School of Arts and Communication.
“I see this as a way of giving back to the institution that has been my home for most of my career. My focus will be on ensuring the smooth continuity of administrative and academic functions during this transition period. The University of Hyderabad has a legacy of excellence, and I intend to uphold those standards while we await the appointment of a regular Vice-Chancellor,” she stated.
Ms. Anuradha played a pivotal role in establishing dance as a rigorous academic discipline. She served as a resource person for the Sangeet Natak Akademi and as a subject expert for the University Grants Commission.
