During a company’s investor call on Monday, Airtel chairman Sunil Mittal reiterated that the telco will not shy away from increasing tariffs. As of now, the base plans are priced at Rs 79, they could soon be increased to Rs 99.
Telecom companies like Airtel started the process of tariff hikes last month by increasing base tariffs of plans from Rs 49 to Rs 79. These tariffs are now likely to see a further hike and the base plans might be further increased to Rs 99, according to company chairman Sunil Mittal. He, however, said that it is not clear as to when the company would increase tariffs and that it would depend on market forces. During a company’s investor call on Monday Mittal reiterated that the telco will not shy away from increasing tariffs.
