
AIIMS student body issues apology after Ramlila skit triggers social media outrage

Video clips of a Ramlila skit by some students at AIIMS Delhi triggered outrage with many social media users accusing them of hurting religious sentiments. The AIIMS student body has now issued an apology.
The student body of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi issued an apology on Sunday after videoclips of a Ramlila skit performed by some students of the institute drew widespread criticism on social media for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. A videoclip of a Ramleela skit done by some students of AIIMS has been circulating on social media. On behalf of the students, we apologise for the conduct of this skit which was not meant to hurt anyone’s sentiments. The skit was allegedly performed by some first-year MBBS students near the hostel quadrangle at the AIIMS campus on the occasion of Dusshera. Video clips of the skit went viral on social media with many users demanding action against the students for 'disrespectful portrayal' of religious figures.
