AIADMK functionaries inside the Pondicherry office tore down the image of OPS, the coordinator of the party. On June 27, AIADMK senior leader D Jayakumar said that OPS has become the symbol of betrayal.
The power struggle within the AIADMK continued on Monday, with the faction led by Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) describing O Panneerselvam (OPS) as a symbol of betrayal, and saying his continuance as treasurer would be decided during the July 11 General Council meeting.

Jayakumar stated that the image would soon be replaced, but OPS's name was removed as he has become a symbol of betrayal after opposing calls for single leadership.

On June 23, AIADMK general council meeting was held and during the event, the EPS faction members rejected all 23 resolutions which were to be heard and demanded that a single leadership resolution be added to the list of resolutions and a fresh special GC be called.
The newly appointed presidium chairman Tamil Magan Hussain announced that the GC will be held on July 11.
As per sources, Edapadi K Palanisami's team has 95 per cent control over the party and as the OPS camp went to court last time, the party has reportedly decided to remove him from the party treasurer post.
