After Supreme Court order, OBC reservation declared in Mumbai for civic poll

The lottery for OBC reservations was drawn today for the upcoming Mumbai municipal corporation election. BJP alleged that the MCGM election officer had submitted wrong data to the state election commission about reservations for OBC seats.

The OBC reservation has fallen in the wards of Shiv Sena's former House leader Trishna Vishwasrao, former municipal standing committee chairman Yashwant Jadhav, NCP group leader Rakhi Jadhav and former mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar.
These senior corporators will now have to go and fight from another wards.
Among them, Vishwanath Mahadeshwar will be able to field his wife and former corporator Pooja Mahadeshwar from his ward. As the ward in Mumbai has been reserved for OBCs, the community is happy.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra BJP treasurer and Mulund MLA Mihir Kotecha on Thursday alleged that the data submitted by the MCGM election officer to the State Election Commission about reserving OBC seats for the ensuing civic polls is “false”.
Officials of Mumbai Municipal Corporation released the reservation lottery on Friday. Ward number 185 of Shiv Sena's former House leader Trishna Vishwaraao has been reserved for OBC women. Ward number 217 of Yashwant Jadhav, former Chairman of the Standing Committee and deputy leader of the Shinde camp, has been reserved for OBC women. Ward number 96 of former mayor and Shiv Sena leader Viswanath Mahadeshwar has been reserved for OBC women. He will be able to field his wife Pooja Mahadeshwar from this constituency. NCP group leader Rakhi Jadhav's ward has also been reserved for OB women. Meanwhile, since BJP group leader Prabhakar Shinde's ward 109 is reserved for general women, he will have to fight from another constituency.
