Actor Adarsh Gourav opened up about his admiration for singer Arijit Singh. In an interview with India Today, Gourav praised Arijit's decision to live life on his own terms.
Actor Adarsh Gourav has spoken about his respect for playback singer Arijit Singh in light of Singh's announcement to step away from playback singing. In an interview, Gourav reflected on his long-standing admiration for Singh, both as an artist and as an individual.
The discussion comes after Arijit Singh revealed on social media that he would quit playback singing but continue to fulfil existing commitments and make music.
Speaking to India Today, Gourav recounted his initial experience discovering Singh during the singer's early days on a television reality show. “I’ve been following Arijit Singh since he was a contestant on Fame Gurukul, when Javed Akhtar, Illa Arun, and Padma Wadkar were judges. Even back then, Arijit stood out and clearly caught a lot of people’s attention,” he said.
He also described the moment when Singh’s voice made a memorable impact on him after the show. “I think the first time I heard him after that was in Delhi 6, or maybe it was Kabhi Jo Badal Barse from a film by Sachin Joshi with Sunny Leone. That’s when it hit me, this is the same guy from Fame Gurukul.”
For Gourav, admiration for Singh goes beyond his musical abilities. “I’ve been a massive fan of not just him as a singer, but also as a human being,” he shared, before pointing out the singer’s conscious decision to stay away from the industry’s constant noise.
He offered insight into Singh’s deliberate approach, saying, “He’s someone who doesn’t care about staying in Mumbai just to remain relevant or constantly be in the news.” Arijit Singh's announcement on social media. (Credit: Instagram/@arijitsingh)
