
Active Covid cases in Maharashtra tripled in last 6 days: State's Covid task force

Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra are rising rapidly, raising concerns.
The Maharashtra Cabinet has expressed concern over the surge in Covid-19 numbers in the state. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday instructed officials to increase the speed of Covid vaccination.He also directed them to conduct a meeting of the state's Covid Task force over the next couple of days.COVID-19 CASES LIKELY TO RISEAdditional Chief Secretary of Health Department Dr Pradip Vyas during his presentation informed the Cabinet that the number of new Covid cases in the state is likely to rise in mid-January.He also said that the daily vaccination numbers in Maharashtra have dropped from 8 lakh to 5 lakh. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has instructed ministers to expedite vaccination in their respective districts.
NUMBER OF ACTIVE COVID CASES TRIPLEDVyas also informed the cabinet that presently there are 10,000 active cases and that the number of active cases has doubled in the last 20 days, whereas the numbers have tripled only in the last six days.The positivity rate in the state stands at 1.06 per cent.
