'Accidental firing' of missile: Pakistan MFA summons Indian ambassador, asks for joint probe

A day after India acknowledged that a "technical snag led to the accidental firing of a missile" which landed in Pakistan, Islamabad demanded a joint probe to accurately establish the facts surrounding the incident.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad summoned India's envoy on Saturday to convey Pakistan's concern to the Indian government regarding the "accidental firing" of a missile into their country on March 9 due to a "technical snag".
The ministry informed the ambassador that India's decision to hold an internal inquiry was not sufficient since the missile ended up in Pakistani territory. He was asked to convey to the Indian government Pakistan’s demand for a joint probe to establish the facts related to the incident.
The ministry said that such serious matters could not be addressed with simplistic explanations as offered by the Indian authorities.
He was further told that Pakistan expects a satisfactory response and clarification of several fundamental questions regarding security protocols and technical safeguards against the accidental or unauthorised launch of missiles in a nuclearised environment.
