Hamid Ali, a close aide of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, was arrested on Friday even as the party said Khan's arrest was part of a conspiracy to defame the party.
Delhi Police on Saturday arrested AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan's close aide and business partner Hamid Ali. This comes a day after the AAP leader was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Branch of Delhi Police.
Hamid Ali was arrested under the Arms Act. The police recovered a pistol, some bullets and Rs 12 lakh in cash from his residence. Police had conducted a raid at his residence on Friday where they recovered weapons and cartridges.
Meanwhile, Amanatullah Khan was taken out of police custody on Saturday and taken for a medical check-up.

The AAP reacted to Amanatullah’s arrest and said the party leader was arrested in a “baseless” case. “Nothing was found at his residence or office during the raid. This is a new conspiracy to implicate the MLA in a false case and defame the party,” it said.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also took a jibe at the ruling BJP and said “Operation lotus” is on to take out every AAP leader. He said, “First they arrested Satyendra Jain, but there is no evidence against him in the court. Then they raided my house but didn't get anything. Then they started a fake investigation against Kailash Gahlot, and now Amanatullah Khan is arrested.”
